Marbella: rent a car and see the sights
- Historic Marbella:
Head to the historic old town in your rental car in Marbella if you want to explore and understand the heritage of the city. The Plaza de los Naranjos is the thriving main town square whose restaurants are thronged by locals and holidaymakers alike. The square is also home to the 16th century town hall, Consistorial House, which is a fine example of Spanish architecture. Another well known building here is the Ermita de Santiago, the old parish church. The Spanish Contemporary Engravings Museum, also situated in the old town, is renowned for preserving and exhibiting contemporary Spanish graphic artwork and engravings by Dali, Picasso, Miro, Goya, and other famous artists. The building that houses the museum is constructed in the Renaissance Gothic-Mudéjar style and is an attraction in its own right.
- Puerto Banus:
Lying at a distance of about 10km from the old town, Puerto Banus can be easily accessed when you rent a car from Marbella. A fleet of luxury yachts can be seen across the fashionable marina, whose promenade is lined with upmarket boutiques and delightful restaurants. There are also numerous beaches around the marina which are ideal for sunbathing.
- The Alcazaba:
This is another site in Marbella that you can reach comfortably if you rent a car. The castle's fortifications are impressive and are a fine example of the architecture left from the Caliphate rule. Today, the castle grounds host numerous cultural events and outdoor concerts.
