Rent a car: Ibiza and its sights
Discover the island's capital, Ibiza City, known for its generous number of clubs, hotels and restaurants. From there, the beaches of Figueretas, Talamanca and Playa d’en Bossa can be reached easily. To dive into the island's heady nightlife, and to witness an unforgettable sunset at Café del Mar, take a trip to San Antonio.
Stroll along the famous palm-lined promenade at Santa Eulalia and enjoy diving, water skiing, parasailing and windsurfing at Es Cana. Portinatx with its three beaches, S'Arenal Gros, S'Arenal Petit and Playa Porto Beach, is another favourite and is an ideal place for sunbathing, diving and snorkelling.
To experience a medieval-themed fair, visit the fortified old town of Dalt Vila, a World Heritage Site, in the second weekend of May. To further satisfy your hunger for history and adventure, head to the Necròpolis del Puig des Molins and explore its ancient tombs. Opting for car rental on your Ibiza trip means you can access more remote gems like this, whilst travelling in comfort.
Getting around by car
Rent a car in Ibiza as it is a great way to get the most out of a visit to the island. But make sure to keep certain things in mind while driving. Keep your driving license and car insurance papers with you at all times, and remember to use your headlights when passing through a tunnel. Watch out for the local police who are notoriously strict in handing out fines for speeding and other road offences. When renting, also note that roundabouts go anti-clockwise, giving way to left. Finding a free parking spot in the more popular areas like Ibiza town, Santa Eulalia and San Antonio can be difficult but in comparison, finding paid parking in the blue marked bays is fairly straightforward. There is a limited number of petrol stations on the island, some of which ask for payment in advance of filling your car, whilst others request a credit card deposit before filling up, especially at night. Since the sun is rather strong in Ibiza, shielding the interior of your car with sunscreens is highly recommended.
