Atlanta: rent a car to enjoy the sights
- Georgia Aquarium:
The second largest in the world, the Georgia Aquarium is home to several thousand species of fish, including the mighty whale shark, bottlenose dolphins and sea otters. By car, you can easily reach Six Flags Over Georgia, situated just 20 minutes from downtown. This excellent theme park boasts more than 40 rides, including eleven exhilarating roller coasters. If you are brave enough, line up for the Goliath hyper roller coaster or the Dare Devil Dive, which includes a 95 ft. vertical lift. Fun kids' rides will keep the little ones entertained whilst the sister park, Six Flags White Water, is located just a short drive away.
Getting around Atlanta by car
With car rental, Atlanta's many attractions are within easy reach. But before hitting the road, it is important to bear a few things in mind. Cars drive on the right side of the road, front-seat passengers must wear seatbelts at all times and children under the age of 12 must sit in the back. Driving under the influence of alcohol is strictly forbidden, as is texting whilst driving. Note that the speed limit in urban areas is 30 m/ph and on motorways, 70 m/ph. However, this can vary, so it is worth paying close attention to signs indicating speed limits. The rush hours in Atlanta can last from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., and from as early as 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. so plan your journey accordingly, in order to avoid delays.
