Mykonos: Rent a car and explore its sights
There is certainly no shortage of places to work on your tan in Mykonos, with so many great beaches located on the island. However, if you fancy a break from beach life and want to explore something different, Mykonos Town, or Chora, is the place for you. Simply drive your rental car in Mykonos to Chora's main square, ‘Laka’, and spend the day in this green oasis, with beautiful palm trees, charming shops and inviting eateries.
You can also take your rental car to Chora’s lovely quarter of 'Little Venice'. Here, you can visit the magnificent windmills, which are among the most popular landmarks of this area. With a car hire, you can drive to the north of the quarter, where you will find the beautiful Church of Panagia Paraportiani. The sparkling white walls of the church contrast with the deep blue sky, making a strong impact on visitors, who often compare it to an iceberg. You should also make sure to visit Matoyianni Street, where you can indulge in some shopping before hitting the beaches of Paradise and Super Paradise.
In Mykonos, you can rent a car to get around the island as well as explore nearby islands. Take a ferry to the neighbouring island of Tinos and visit the famous Our Lady of Tinos shrine. Thousands of pilgrims visit annually as it is considered to be among the holiest sites in all of Greece.
